Campbell County Public Schools Educators Nominated for National LifeChanger of the Year Award
January 12, 2026 –Rustburg, VA– Campbell County Technical Center culinary arts teacher Cassie King and Rustburg High School math teacher Haley Blanks have been nominated for National Life Group’s 2025-26 LifeChanger of the Year award. National Life Group’s LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership.
Blanks was nominated by her principal, Brantley Shields, for her ability to make complicated subjects clear and approachable. Her lessons are innovative and full of strategies that make learning exciting and manageableStudents who have Blanks as a teacher describe her as unforgettable. The lessons they learn from Blanks go far beyond solving equations or preparing for a test. They carry with them the confidence, encouragement, and love she instills in them.
As department chair, Blanks leads with strength and kindness, setting an example for teachers and students alike. She pours her time and energy into events that make high school memorable.
“Every student dreams of having that one teacher who changes everything—someone who not only teaches the subject, but also inspires confidence, shapes character, and makes school feel like a second home. At Rustburg High School, that teacher is Ms. Blanks. For many students, she is not just a math teacher; she is a LifeChanger,” said Shields.
