Principal - Dr. Brantley Shields

Dr. Brantley Shields was hired as Principal of Rustburg High School in July of 2022 after serving as Assistant Principal at RHS since 2017. This is Dr. Shields 23rd year in education, having served in Campbell County Public Schools as a teacher and Head Varsity Boys Basketball coach at Rustburg High School from 2010-2016.

Dr. Shields holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Wellness, and Sport Science and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Averett University. Dr. Shields earned his endorsement in Educational Leadership from Longwood University in 2014 and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Virginia Tech in 2020. A native of Danville, Virginia, Dr. Shields is married to the former Beth Hamilton, and they reside in Evergreen, Virginia with their daughters Regan, Callan, and son, Jaxon.

Assistant Principal - Mr. Charles Torrence

Mr. Torrence graduated from Emory and Henry College in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in Social Studies. He went on to earn a Masters in Educational Leadership from The American College of Education in 2015. He began his career as a teacher in Poquoson City Public Schools 1997, teaching social studies and coaching football and baseball. Mr. Torrence has had the pleasure of serving the communities of Woodside High School, Rockbridge County High School, Hidden Valley High School, and Heritage High School in Lynchburg as a social studies teacher and assistant coach of multiple sports. He served as a social studies teacher and head football coach at Northside High School in Roanoke from 2006 to 2015. Recently, he served as the strength and conditioning teacher at Rustburg High School and its head football coach.

Mr. Torrence and his wife, Sarah, reside in Appomattox and have four beautiful children (Steele, 16; Kye, 3; Brooklyn, 2; and Ezra, his pride and joy. Mr. Torrence enjoys spending time with his family, classic sports cars and golfing.

Assistant Principal - Ms. Lisa Pugh

Ms. Lisa Pugh is completing her third year as an Assistant Principal at Rustburg High School. This is Ms. Pugh’s 25th year in education, having served as a post-dispositional coordinator, a special education teacher, an elementary and middle school counselor, a testing coordinator, and b-team volleyball coach. Ms. Pugh has been employed by Campbell County Public Schools since 2013.

Ms. Pugh holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/Special Education and a Master of Education degree in School Counseling from Lynchburg College. Ms. Pugh earned her Educational Leadership endorsement from Longwood University in 2022. Ms. Pugh resides in Lynchburg, VA with her daughter, Annie.

Athletic Director - Mr. Barry Godsey

Barry Godsey was hired as Athletic Director of Rustburg High School in July of 2014. This is Mr. Godsey's 26th year in education and in Campbell County Public Schools. Mr. Godsey has served as a Business and Informational Technology teacher and was the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Rustburg High School from 2004-2014.

Mr. Godsey holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Programming from Lynchburg College. Mr. Godsey resides in Gladys, Va. with his wife, Cindy.
